Charity returned to Neema House in January this year. She originally came to Neema House in November 2014 due to neglect by her alcoholic mother. Charity left in March 2016 to live with her maternal uncle and aunt (the only family members able and willing to care for her) who took great care of her. Her mother came for a visit and kidnapped Charity and left Geita region. Police were involved but no one knew where had gone. In January this year, one of our staff members saw Charity at her maternal grandparents home (they also are alcoholics) and we intervened. We attended a meeting with Charity's mother, uncle, and local leaders and it was decided the best place for Charity at this time was Neema House. We continue to work with her family to create a plan for her to return.
